There was a noise coming from the car on deceleration. Another shop in town said a wheel bearing was failing and wanted to charge $500+ for repairs, but after looking at prices online, I wanted a second opinion. When I picked the car up from the first mechanic, the noise was gone. I called around to get estimates, and Rick's sounded a bit better and had good reviews online, so I took it in. They inspected all four bearings and then after finding everything tight, put it through a quick highway test and couldn't reproduce the issue either. Between Rick's suggesting it could have been a brake rotor or something else brushing the wheel and seeing similar suggestions online, I suspect the other mechanic was looking for a quick fix and a quick buck. Rick's was honest, and I was out a whole $35 for the inspection. The whole experience gave me a good feeling, and helped build a level of trust. I will definitely be returning for future service.
